About Us
How the team began
In 2014, just after Silver Springs officially became Silver Springs State Park, a group of professional business men gathered to talk about how we could be of service to the park as advanced and experienced scuba divers. Our understanding was that the park, nor the concessionaire had anyone on their staff that were divers, so the glass on the glass bottom boats became covered in algae on the bottom as did the Greek statues located in the main spring. And so the Silver Springs Professional Dive Team was founded and still serves t
When developing a logo for identification of team members, we decided to use the face of the Creature from the Black Lagoon as the focal point of our logo, since it was the most iconic film ever made at Silver Springs. In fact, in 2019 we had the opportunity to meet Ricou Browning who played the creature in the 1954 film and the two subsequent sequels. We presented him with an honorary membership to the dive team.
